How this video to GIF maker works
A GIF is a short looping animation made from a series of still frames, with no sound. You choose the width (320, 480 or 640 pixels) and the frame rate (8, 12 or 15). The default is 480 pixels wide at 12 frames per second. The longest GIF is 20 seconds.
When the clip is longer than 5 seconds, the first 5 seconds are selected. You can drag the handles or type a start and end time. A note appears when the selection is longer than 8 seconds, because those GIFs get very large. Anything past 20 seconds is left out. The work runs on WebAssembly (ffmpeg.wasm) in your browser. The GIF is a normal file you can download and paste into a chat or a document. The original video is not changed.
